General Objectives

The Palliser Regional Library Board believes that the library’s collection should be extensive, comprehensive, cosmopolitan, and a reflection of community needs. Selection is made primarily on the basis of literary or artistic merit, authenticity, honesty of presentation, and usefulness. Some material in the library may be regarded as offensive or in political opposition to some people. However, if the Palliser Regional Library branches are to fulfill their obligations to their communities, they must include material of varied points of view, including those of a controversial nature because of political expression or moral implication. The presence of an item in the library collection does not indicate an endorsement of its content by the library.

The goal of the Palliser Regional Library is to maximize the use of its collection by the greatest number of people.
